Domestic disputes drive 4 persons to suicide

A 45-year-old man committed suicide after his wife attended a marriage function against his permission.

The incident happened in Bapu Nagar on Wednesday night. According to Amberpet police, the deceased, B Balaji, had instructed his wife not to attend a marriage function. However, she went for the marriage along with children and she returned home, Balaji had a heated argument with her about it. Upset with his wife, Balaji committed suicide by hanging with the ceiling at his residence.

In another case, Shakali Ashok, 35, succumbed to the injuries which he sustained after setting himself ablaze. According to Viqarabad police, Ashok, an agriculturist of Mailardevpally, was married to Latha about 10 years ago. He was a habitual drunkard and used to beat his wife. About six months ago, Latha had also lodged a complaint with the Women’s Police Station and the couple was also counselled. However, she went back to her parents’ house recently after Ashok allegedly resumed his bad behaviour. Consequently, Ashok had set himself ablaze on March 7 and died at the Osmania General Hospital on Thursday.

In a different case, 20-year-old K Lakshmi committed suicide by consuming some unknown poison following an argument with her husband Anji Babu over some trivial issues. She took the extreme step at her residence in Surya Nagar on Wednesday and was declared brought dead when taken to Gandhi Hospital, according to Alwal Police.

In a separate case, 38-year-old A Narender committed suicide after he failed to trace the address of his wife and children who were living separately allegedly due to his harassment.

According to Kukatpally police, Narender of Nizampet was married to Savithri about 20 years ago and had two children. However, he allegedly used to harass them on regular basis. Upset with his behaviour, Savithri, along with her children, was living separately in Gaddianaram for the last one-and-a-half year. On February 25, Narender went to his brother-in-law’s house in Gaddinaram and asked for his wife’s address. On refusal, he had set himself ablaze before his house. He was admitted to Gandhi Hospital where he died on Wednesday night. (INN)
