Dog stalls ‘world class’ landing

New Delhi, July 15: An embarrassing moment at the brand new Terminal-3 (T3) of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on Thursday (July 15) even as airport officials were gearing up for the first landing of an Airbus A380 in India, an unexpected guest on the runway. A stray dog was seen running around the runway. The landing was delayed by over half an hour because of the dog on the runway.

An Emirates Airbus A380 flew in from Dubai with over 500 passengers, marking the world’s largest commercial aircraft’s arrival at the (T3). The Emirates EK516 landed around 3:00 PM in heavy downpour around the airport.

The Airbus A380 flight was part of a drill to reaffirm the operational readiness of the world’s sixth largest passenger terminal. T3 has a capacity to handle 34 million passengers per annum and will be fully operational from July 28 after the synchronization process among various airport agencies is complete.
