Hyderabad, May 27: Summer is a critical time for GHMC veterinary section as the number of complaints about stray dogs or dog bite instances double. “If we get around 50 to 100 calls daily, during this period we are inundated with calls,” said Chief Veterinary Officer P. Venkateshwar Reddy.
Dehydration, lack of food and water makes the canines irritable and ready to snap.
Advice to people
In case of a dog bite, he advises people to wash the wound with soap water and see a doctor for immunisation against Rabies at the IPM – Dr. Sampath Kumar, Deputy Civil Surgeon: 9912277002.

Register pets
Dr. Reddy also urged pet owners to register their pets with the municipal corporation by paying Rs. 50 a year for a non-breeder dog and Rs.1, 000 for a breeder dog after it attains six months.
