Mumbai, January 12: A 65-year-old doctor was arrested for allegedly raping a patient at his clinic in Colaba here after blackmailing her with nude photographs, police said today.
The accused identified as Manohar Shobani has been held under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (2)(criminal intimidation) of the IPC yesterday and was remanded in police custody till January 14.
According to a complaint lodged by the 35-year-old victim, she was taken to Manohar’s clinic in May 2009 after she met with an accident.
The complainant alleged that the accused had removed her clothes and clicked her nude pictures after administrating injection during the treatment, police said.
Subsequently, the accused blackmailed her stating that he would make the photographs public if she did not bow to his demands, they said.
