Karnal (Haryana), April 20: A doctor and his helper were arrested here today for allegedly conducting sex determination tests on pregnant women.
Dr Brij Sharma and compounder Amit Kumar were arrested following the orders of Deputy Commissioner Neelam Pardeep Kasni. Sharma was running an ultrasound clinic illegally in a rented house, police said.
A police team conducted a raid and arrested the duo.
During the raid, it was found that the helper was carrying a bag containing a portable ultrasound machine. Other material needed for determining the gender was also kept in the house.
The authorities immediately sealed the ultrasound machine.
