Lucknow, April 03: Doctors, who went on a state-wide srike to protest the gunning down of Chief Medical Officer B P Singh in a posh locality here, tonight called off their stir following talks with the Uttar Pradesh government.
However, doctors, belonging to the Provincial Medical Services, would abstain from paperwork from 0800 to 1000 hrs as a mark of protest, an official spokesman said.
Medical and health services would be available during the period, he said.
“The PMS doctors have called off their srike. Medical services will be restored soon in the state,” the spokesman said.
Yesterday, the PMS doctors went on state-wide wild cat strike to protest the killing of the CMO, hitting medical services.
They demanded a CBI inquiry into the murder.
Singh, the Chief Medical Officer in the Family Welfare Department, was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne persons in Gomti Nagar area here yesterday.
