Hyderabad, January 23: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday called upon all sections of people, leaders and officials to participate widely in the `Racha Banda’ a programme, which is aimed at addressing people’s problems.
The programme is being launched by the state government at Rajam mandal in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts on Monday.
Talking to media persons at C Block in Samtha Building in Secretariat, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said the welfare programme has been envisaged to benefit the people of the state and urged politicians not to politicize the event. He also asked the opposition and Congress rank and file to participate whole-heartedly and not to boycott the programme.
“The programme is aimed to address public problems and take government schemes and programmes to the doorsteps of people,” the Chief Minister pointed out.
He sought the cooperation of all people and leaders in redressing the people’s problems.
The government says that under the programme, 18 lakh citizens will benefit, as well as another 6.5 lakh SHGs members.
The government plans to sanction temporary ration cards for 5.7 lakh eligible families and after completion of comprehensive survey, issue permanent cards to them. The temporary ration cards would enable the people to have the benefits of Arogyasri and pensions. The government will spend Rs 85 crore as subsidized benefits of grains and medical expenses for these cardholders.
The Chief Minister said that 4.60 lakh SC/ST beneficiaries have been identified for disbursing pensions under YSR Abhayahastham. He added that through the programme, 65 lakh members would get ‘Pavala Vaddi’ benefit.
Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said 4.7 lakh houses would be sanctioned in the programme and the work days under MGNREGS would be extended to 125 from 100. The daily wage under the schemes would also be also increased from Rs 90 to 121, he stated.
Reacting on a section of leaders who have given a call to boycott the programme, the Chief Minister said the programme was being organized by the state government and was above politics.
“I will cover all districts and participate in all the programmes,” Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy stated and sought the cooperation of the media for success of the programme.
