DMK is not anti-Hindu, says Stalin

Tirunelveli: DMK President M.K. Stalin on Tuesday said his party is not against Hinduism as falsely propagated by the BJP.

Speaking at an election rally here, Stalin said the BJP was spreading a canard in a planned manner that that DMK was anti-Hindu.

“If the party is anti-Hindu, than who exists in DMK? Can they answer?” Stalin asked.

The DMK chief accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of acting as if it was the sole custodian of Hinduism.

Stalin said the DMK was not against any religion or caste and its main role was to protect social harmony.

Recently K. Veeramani, leader of Dravidian social movement DK, which is supporting the DMK-led alliance, said recently that if mobile phones had existed during the era of Lord Krishna, then He would have video-filmed the alleged perpetrators of the Pollachi sexual abuse case.

Linking the Hindu god with the Pollachi sex scandal infuriated many in Tamil Nadu. The police have registered a complaint against Veeramani.

There have been social media messages recalling Stalin’s derisive remarks about Hindu marriage customs while attending a Muslim wedding.

Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Stalin said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was lending his support to the AIADMK government in the state.

According to Stalin, the moment Modi is defeated in the Lok Sabha election, the AIADMK government would also go.
