Chennai: With Assembly elections fast approaching, DMK today sent out a strong message to its partymen against indiscriminate erecting of flex boards and digital banners, saying people were cut up with parties which indulge in cutout culture and asked them to shun the practice.
A party headquaurters release noted that some workers were interested in putting up their own cutouts, banners and other publicity materials at various places and such an approach would make the “public hate the DMK as a whole”.
Recalling that the party had earlier directed cadres to keep banners and flex boards of only senior leaders like party President, General Secretary and Treasurer, the release said, “It has been seen in recent days that such a practice is disappearing as we are also indulging in publicity.”
Quoting media reports that movement of traffic was affected as a large number of banners of ruling AIADMK’s General Secretary and state Chief Minister Jayalalithaa were kept during the AIADMK general council meeting that was held here last month, the DMK said, “People tend to compare us with AIADMK.”
The release asked partymen not to forget the proverb “even nectar in excess is poisonous” and advised them to avoid tendency to set up banners.
