Hyderabad, December 18: The Disaster Management Centre project, supported by American Red Cross (ARC), has been handed over to the Indian Red Cross Society’s AP State Branch here today.
At a ceremony here, the project was handed over to Senior Field Representative of ARC, Ramsey Rayyis to IRCS’ AP chapter State secretary and former chief justice A Lakshmana Rao.
ARC funded the DMC project in Andhra Pradesh by providing about Rs 44.68 lakh. The project is going to be closed by December 31.
Lakshmana Rao said the DMC project would be continued next year as the Canadian Red Cross Society had come forward to fund the project.
Talks were going with CRC and positive results were expected in a few days, he said.
Rao said ARC had been giving support in strenthening the Disaster Management Centre to improve the capacity of IRCS’ AP branch in tackling disaster and providing relief to the victims of disasters.
