Hyderabad, May 15: Despite the drubbing he received in the by-election to the Assembly from Pulivendula, the Congress leadership is likely to nominate YS Vivekananda Reddy to the Legislative Council under governor’s quota.
Reddy lost to his sister-in-law YS Vijayalakshmi by a margin of 85,191 votes.
According to party sources, Vivekananda Reddy is in no mood to patch up and join hands with Jagan after the bitter electoral battle.
Ultimately, it will be for him to decide whether to continue in the Congress or not.
Though Vivekananda is ready to work as an ordinary party worker, the party leadership might prefer to nominate him to the Council.
The high command might also favour his induction into the state cabinet once again with an intention to prove the party’s commitment to development of Kadapa. He is expected to meet the party’s central leaders shortly.
As for health minister DL Ravindra Reddy, who lost to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of YSR Congress by a staggering margin of 5.45 lakh votes in the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency, he will be retained in the ministry.
