DL dares Jagan to make his loyalists quit and seek re-election

Hyderabad, January 12: The Minister for Health, Dr D L Ravindra Reddy on Tuesday dared the Congress rebel leader, Mr Y S Jaganmohan reddy to get the MLAs, supporting him, to resign from their posts as Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy does not want to run the government with the latter’s kindness as alleged.

Speaking at the Secretariat Media Point, Dr Ravindra Reddy said that though there was no need for him to resign from his post and seek re-election as he had won on the Congress symbol, Dr Reddy said he has accepted the demand of Jagan’s supporters for his resignation. He reminded his earlier challenge to go for electoral battle between the Congress and YS Jagan party in Kadapa district. He said that he came to know that three MLAs have accepted his challenge. “Let me know, when Mr Jagan’s MLAs return to the State from Delhi. If all the five MLAs of Kadapa came forward to resign, he would also resign from his post along with them. We six members would at a time submit resignations to the Speaker and leave the place after acceptance of the resignations only, if Jagan supporting MLAs were ready”, he added.

“Mr Jagan has a misconception that he can do anything. He should know that he has reached the present position due to kindness of the AICC president, Ms Sonia Gandhi”, he quipped. The income of Mr Jagan was only Rs 50,000 in 1997-98 and Rs 9 lakhs before 2004 and it skyrocketed to Rs 100 crores in 2009, he pointed out. He suspected that the main motive behind the actions of Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy was to ensure that his corrupt deals do not come to light.

The Minister also opined that Mr Jagan had no power either to topple the Kiran Kumar Reddy government or to ask his supporters to resign from their posts. “An MLA from Anantapur district and a close aide of Mr Jagan told me that they were ready to resign from their posts and once again spend money in the elections”, he added.

Alleging that Mr Jagan was resorting to emotional blackmailing, the Minister challenged Mr Jagan to go for elections with the resignation of his supporting MLAs. He also pooh-poohed Mr Jagan’s “Jala Deeksha” by questioning whether Mr Jagan knew the meaning of Jala Deeksha and the extent of area under the Krishna river.

Dr Reddy said that Mr Jagan, who did not visit flood-hit and drought affected areas in his own constituency, was now making a hue and cry on farmers’ issues. Referring to the statement of Mr Jagan targeting the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan singh, and the Congress president, Ms Sonia Gandhi, Dr Reddy said that Mr Jagan lost his mental balance and was talking all rubbish. “It was his father late YSR, who told the Krishna Water Tribunal that the State would not seek water for Kalwakurthi, Nettempadu and Velugodu irrigation projects”, he pointed out.
