Johannesburg : World number one Novak Djokovic continued his dominant run as he eased past Milos Raonic of Canada in straight sets to lift the BNP Paribas Open crown for the third straight year here on Monday.
The 28-year-old defending champion claimed an emphatic 6-2, 6-0 triumph over his Canadian compatriot in a one-sided summit showdown that lasted for one hour and 17 minutes.
Jubilant after winning the title for the fifth time, Djokovic said he felt glad to be able to raise his level with each passing tournament, Sport24 reported.
Djokovic further insisted he would try to follow the same kind of routine as he had been doing so far and would continue to put his best foot forward in the upcoming matches as well.
It was Djokovic’s third title of the season, having started the year with the win over Rafael Nadal in Doha before clinching his 11th Grand Slam at Australian Open by beating Andy Murray.
The triumph also saw the Serbian champion equalizing his record with Nadal on 27 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 crowns. (ANI)
