Beijing: World number one Novak Djokovic defeated American John Isner in straight sets to reach the semi-finals of the China Open here on Friday.
The Serbian defending champion clinched a 6-2, 6-2 win over Isner in a thrilling quarterfinal match that lasted for about an hour.
Djokovic will now lock horns with David Ferrer of Spain, who has also made it to the semifinals by sweeping aside Taiwan opponent Lu Yen-hsun 6-3,6-1.
