Djokovic sees off Berdych to reach Miami Open semis

Miami (USA)\: World number one and two-time defending champion Novak Djokovic continued his imperious form as he outplayed Czech Republic’s Tomas Berdych in straight sets to book his place in the semifinals of the Miami Open here on Thursday.

The 28-year-old Serbian frustrated Berdych throughout the quarter-final clash before eventually claiming a 6-3, 6-3 triumph in one-hour and 40 minutes at Crandon Park.

It was Djokovic’s tenth consecutive win over Berdych. He has also improved his FedEx ATP Head to Head record against the Czech to 23-2.

With the win, the five-time Miami Open winner has now set up a clash against Belgian David Goffin, who also made it to his first Miami Open semi-final after beating France’s Gilles Simon 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.

In the women’s singles event, Australian Open champion Angelique Kerber overcame American Madison Keys 6-3, 6-2 to set up a semi-final showdown against this year’s Indian Wells winner Victoria Azarenka.(ANI)
