Djokovic on brink to smash 100 million USD barrier

Johannesburg: World number one Novak Djokovic is on verge to become the first man to win 100 million dollars in prize money as he aims to book his place in the quarterfinals of the French Open for the 10th time.

The Serbian champion, who is bidding to complete his career Grand Slam at the Roland Garros, stormed into the fourth round after beating Briton Aljaz Bedene 6-2, 6-3, 6-3.

Djokovic entered at Roland Garros with prize money of 99,673,404 dollars, but he can cross the 100 million dollar milestone by making to the last-eight.

Currently, Roger Federer is Djokovic’s closest rival in the prize money stakes, but the Swiss maestro is currently out of the tournament due to an injury.

However, Djokovic, who is also aiming to reach the quarterfinals for the 28th straight Grand Slam, believes the world’s top four tennis players (including him) could not dominate the game for long, especially because of some really talented young players coming in.

The 29-year-old, who is in quest to complete career Grand Slam at French Open , will lock horns with 14th seed Roberto Bautista Agut for a place in the quarterfinals of the second major of the season. (ANI)
