Divided Gods of AP

Warangal, January 11: Telangana or Telingana is an unofficial region in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The region lies on the Deccan plateau to the west of the Eastern Ghats range, and includes the northwestern interior districts of Warangal, Adilabad, Khammam, Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Rangareddi, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Medak, and the state capital, Hyderabad.

Month back KCR, the TRS leader announced the fast unto death which rocked AP politics. His slogans Telangana JAAGO, Andhra BAAGO and KCR SACHUDO TELANGANA VACHUDO, Naa shavayaatrano, Jaitra Yaatrano added tension to Govt and Andhra lobbyists.

According to priest, ‘temples were the source of social stability apart from bestowing spiritual peace on the visitors. In the ancient times it provided livelihood to those who were poor. Unfortunately these important social development factors of the temples are under threat today with the on going problem of Telangana agitations.’

In between, more than 250 Telangana temple’s priests on 06 of this month took out a rally in the district of Warangal calling for the separate statehood for Telangana. But their reasons were different, members of Telangana Brahmana Vaishnava Purohitya Sangam (TBVPS) held allegations that the develoment of Telangana pilgrimage sites at Kaleswaram, Basara, Bhadrachalam, and many more were given less importance as compared to the temples in Andhra region. The concerns of Telangana’s preists were manifold. And moreover, the region had a less developed economy than Andhra, but a larger revenue base (mostly because it taxed rather than prohibited alcoholic beverages), which Telanganas feared might be diverted for use in Andhra, which is, affected not only lives of people but also the super powers-‘Gods’.

Here is a list of temples from Telangana region:

Head priest of Bhadrakali temple, Warangal, Seshugiri ‘Bhadrakali’ Sarma pointed out the priests lack with the initiative taken by the ED in preventing encroachment of temple lands in Telangana region. He also made a point on the construction of a dharamshala at a cost of Rs 54 lakhs at Bhadrakali temple for pilgrims using temple donation money is being used by ED as its regional office and meant primarily for accommodating 100 pilgrims including housing a vedhapatshala for young priests at Bhadrakali temple, TBVPS members said that due to discriminatory attitude, it is being used as office premises of zone V ED deputy commissioner’s office.

In the meanwhile, AP Markfed Chairman Ponnam Prabhakar also alleged that TRS president and Karimnagar MP K Chandrashekhar Rao insulted the priests of Telangana by conducting ‘Rajayoga yagnam’ by the Andhra priests. He called upon the priests of Telangana region to grill the TRS president for humiliating them.

With the effect of these agitations, which not only includes the people, place and temples but also the culture of India will have a great impact on the future generation and it may go against the saying “Unity is Strength”, and if is happens then it will be a second example after the ‘Independent India’, and this may lead to bifurcation of different states in United India said priest.
