District Cong leader stabbed in Howrah

Howrah (WB), October 13: A Congress leader was stabbed in Howrah district tonight triggering tension in the area.

Police said Omprakash Jaiswal, district Congress leader and former General Secretary of the district unit, was attacked with sharp weapons in Howrah town.

Jaiswal, who was seriously injured, had to be referred to a Kolkata hospital from Howrah General Hospital. His family alleged that people running an illicit liquor den in the locality were behind the crime as Jaiswal was trying to get the hooch dens closed.
