Raipur (Chhattisgarh): In a rare instance of fan following, a woman resident of Raipur has allegedly hanged herself to death in front of her two-year-old son, a few days after ‘Balika Vadhu’ fame actor Pratyusha Banerjee committed suicide.
The incident came to light when neighbours after hearing her son crying continuously rushed to her residence and broke open the door. Her husband was in the office at the time of suicide.
The victim, Madhu Mahanand, wife of Lokesh, was a regular viewer of the TV show and purportedly went into depression after the news of Pratyusha suicide broke.
She was very upset by Pratyusha’s suicide and often used to talk about her death with her husband. She used to get restless after watching Pratyusha’s suicide news on TV , said her husband.
Police have sealed the house.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Raipur Range G.P. Singh told ANI that preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was a regular viewer of Balika Vadhu serial, which had left a deep impression on her mind and life.
Police suspected that Pratyusha’s suicide could be a reason behing Madhu’s ending her life. (ANI)
