Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), has extended the last date for admission to various programmes for July 2019 session to September 30, 2019.
According to Prof. PF Rahman, Director I/c, DDE, considering the situation arise due to natural calamity in various states across the country, UGC-DEB has extended the date of admissions for academic session 2019-20.

Workshops on Theatre & Calligraphy inaugurated at MANUU
The Centre for Urdu Culture Studies (CUCS) at Maulana Azad National Urdu University( MANUU) is organizing two separate workshops on Theatre & Calligraphy for students of MANUU. These workshops will continue till September 28.
85 students from different Departments of MANUU are participating in both the workshops under the supervision of the renowned Calligrapher, Master Abdul Ghaffar of Hyderabad & Mr. Anis Azmi, a renowned Theatre Personality from Delhi. Students will be introduced to the history & basics of both the arts during the workshop.
Mr. Anis Azmi, Chief Consultant, CUCS while addressing the inaugural described calligraphy an important part of Urdu civilization and culture, as well as a valuable heritage of our ancestors. Tracing the history & evolution of calligraphy, he said Urdu calligraphy was influenced by Arabic & Persian languages. Since Islam prohibits painting pictures of living objects, the art of calligraphy was promoted in Muslim Countries. High-quality specimens of calligraphy are found in Arabic, Persian and Urdu and it is our responsibility to preserve them, he added.
Dr. Firoz Alam, Assistant Professor, Centre and department staff along with workshop participants were present in the inaugural. Mr Anis Azmi convened the meeting and proposed the vote of thanks.
