Mumbai, October 15: An MLA, whose election from neighbouring Ambarnath was set aside by High Court, has allegedly got a flat in the Maharashtra Housing And Development Authority (MHADA) lottery in the quota for MLAs.
The Court, which is hearing a PIL against MHADA’s lottery for flat allotment, today said that anyone who participated in the lottery can approach the court and point out if any ineligible person has got a flat.
Petitioner Gayasingh Yadav contends that the software used for lottery is faulty.
Today, during the hearing, his lawyer Ahmed Abdi produced an affidavit filed before election commission by NCP’s Kisan S Kathore, which mentions that he has been allotted flat in MLA quota by MHADA in this year’s lottery.
Abdi pointed out that Kathore’s election to Assembly in 2004 was set aside by Bombay High Court, following a petition which alleged poll-related malpractices. Supreme Court has stayed this ruling, and is now hearing his appeal.
“He was a first-time MLA, and his election was set aside, still he got flat in MLA quota,” said Abidi, to make his point that MHADA did not examine applications carefully.
