Disproportionate assets of officials unearthed

Hyderabad, February 10: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) cracked its whip on corrupt government officials across the state.

In searches conducted on the residences of government department officials in three parts of the state, including one in Hyderabad, ACB sleuths unearthed Rs 2.60 crore disproportionate assets from their possession. The market value of these unearthed assets would approximately be Rs 10 crore, ACB officials said.

In the city, ACB sleuths raided the residence and Habsiguda office of Uppal circle GHMC sanitary supervisor, R Radha Krishna and unearthed Rs 1.02 crore disproportionate assets registered in the names of Radha Krishna and his family members.

Radha Krishna’s assets include three houses (a ground-plus-3- storeyed house at Hayathnagar, one at Tattiannaram and another at Nalgonda), a flat at Habsiguda, five open plots in and around the city, 9.26 acre agricultural land in Nidmanoor mandal of Nalgonda and Bikaner village in Nizamabad district. “The documentary value of these assets is about Rs 87 lakhs,’’ an official release said.

Apart from these, Radha Krishna was found in possession of Rs 2.25 lakhs cash in his house, Rs 6 lakh bank balance, a car worth Rs 3.50 lakhs, motorcycles and other household articles worth Rs 3.50 lakhs.

“The market value of these assets would be more than Rs 3 crores,’’ the release said.

Searches are in progress and Radha Krishna will be arrested and produced before a special court for ACB cases in Hyderabad.

In Krishna district, ACB raided the residence of Gaddam Suri Babu, Grade-I executive officer, Kolavennu village in Kankipadu mandal. Searches were also conducted at three places including his relatives’ houses in Vuyyuru.

Suri Babu was found in possession of two house plots, two 3-storeyed buildings in Krishna district, two cars, two motorcycles, LIC policies worth Rs 3.50 lakhs, chit funds worth Rs 53,000, Rs 41,830 cash, investments worth Rs 80,000, 225 grams gold worth Rs 3.37 lakhs, bank balance of Rs 59,000 and household articles worth Rs 2 lakhs.

Suri Babu’s unearthed assets add up to Rs 80 lakhs and the market value of these assets would come up to several crores.

Suri Babu will be arrested and produced before a special court for ACB cases in Vijayawada, the release said.

Meanwhile, ACB sleuths conducted searches on the residence of Dr S Venkata Ramana Rao, the assistant director of mines and geology department in Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam. The assistant director was trapped by the ACB sleuths in January when he accepted bribe. His relatives’ houses at six places in Visakhapatnam and Rajahmundry were also searched.

Two houses and three flats at Visakhapatnam were found in his possession, one plot each at Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram, 3 acres agricultural land at Mukundapuram in Vizianagaram, 2 acre agricultural land and a shop in Visakhapatnam, a car, motorcycle, gold and silver worth Rs 2 lakhs, Rs 1.42 lakhs cash, bank balance of Rs 8 lakhs and household articles worth Rs 3 lakhs.
