Distribution Companies (Discoms) on Wednesday submitted proposals to hike electricity charges for 2014-15 to the Electricity Regulatory Commission.
In their report to ERC, the Discoms have stated that while the annual expenditure during 2014-15 will be Rs 52,753 crores, the annual revenue receipts will be Rs 36,345 crores leaving a deficit of Rs 16,409 crores for the four Discoms in the State.
They also stated that while 99,046 million units of power will be required to meet the growing demand for power supply, they can generate only 85,582 million units. As a result, the power deficit in the State will be 13,464 million units, they added. (NSS)
