Andhra Pradesh DGP V Dinesh Reddy today said the police will probe “unauthorised tracking” of the phone call details of a senior CBI official only after a formal complaint is lodged in this regard.
YSR Congress Party leaders on Thursday last produced a list of phone calls, reportedly made by the CBI Joint Director (Hyderabad Zone) V V Lakshmi Narayana, accusing him of “selectively leaking” the information pertaining to the ongoing probe in the disproportionate assets case against YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy, to select media persons and a woman, identified as Vasireddy Chandrabala.
When asked by reporters on the charge, Reddy said the AP Police would definitely probe the matter, if any complaint is received.
So far we have not received any complaint. Definitely…we will be taking up the investigation (if any
complaint is lodged in this regard),” the DGP said.
The YSRCP on Thursday last held a demonstration in the Assembly premises alleging a “big conspiracy” to harm Jagan who was arrested by CBI in the disproportionate assets case.
The 15 newly elected MLAs had made public a list of phone calls allegedly made and received by the CBI joint
director to a section of media and his former classmate Vasireddy Chandrabala.
Chandrabala had yesterday approached the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) complaining that the news run by a TV channel and reported by a Telugu paper (owned by Jagan) in this regard was “false and defamatory”.
Based on the petition, the SHRC had directed the Hyderabad (City) Police Commissioner to inquire and submit a
report before it by July 2.
