New Delhi: Lokpal.us, an internal watchdog created by volunteers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has called for a fast by party members and volunteers on Sunday to express concerns that almost one-third founder members were not allowed to attend the National Council meeting.
Dr. Munish Raizada of Lokpal.us said the fast is being observed for the AAP to give it moral strength to upkeep the values for which the party was founded.
He added that the National Council meeting that was held on November 24 was marked by various anomalies.
“Approximately 100 founder members were kept out of the meeting by manipulative techniques (late and impractical invites, and improper suspensions notices). Also, inability of the party to show transparency for the NC meet was evident by the fact that the party did not display the names of invitees,” he said.
“Agenda of the meeting was not circulated even until the last moment. Raizada added that those who protested outside the venue of NC Meeting, no one listened to their grievance,” he added.
Giving details about the fast, Raizada stated that the fast would be organised from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“Those who fast should do so at their homes, work places singly or in groups. Lokpal plans to start a social media campaign using hashtag #Fast4AAP in order to mobilise support,” he said.
“By observing fast, we are sending a message to AAP that we care about the values of truthfulness,” he added. (ANI)
