(ANI): A campaign against those who misuse parking spaces legally meant for the disabled has gained momentum with the internet group posting car numbers of the alleged defaulters on Facebook page to shame them.
Alicia Wright, 38, began the ‘No Permit No Park campaign’ in March after becoming incensed by motorists flagrantly abusing disabled spaces, however, she has since been threatened with physical abuse and stalked for her initiative.
Despite the threats, Wright and her supporters have highlighted the issue by posting photos of numberplates of cars they believe have illegally parked in spaces for the disabled on the ‘ No Permit No Park ‘ Facebook page, Courier Mail reports.
In their latest attempt to teach illegal parkers a lesson in respecting the space meant for the disabled, the group has introduced a flyer which Wright hopes people will print off and use if they see any offenders misusing spaces meant for the disabled.
According to the report, the flyer alerts people to the law regarding disabled parking and asks them to consider the inconvenience they may have caused someone.
Wright said that they conducted a disabled person’s survey and found that 82 percent of people said they had to leave a carpark because they could not find adequate parking, the report added. (ANI)
