Mr. Vijay Babu, Commissioner of Information fined Rs. 25000 to Dr. R.V. Prasad Raju, Director of Culture for not providing information to a complainant who had sought information under Right to Information Act. He recommended to Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary to constitute inquiry committee to investigate about the misappropriation of funds by Dr. Prasad Rao.
Addressing a press conference yesterday, Mr. Vijay Babu told that Prasad Rao failed to furnish information in a case. Mr. Vijay Babu told that Dr. Prasad Rao sanctioned lakhs of rupees to certain cultural organization. Cases of misappropriation of funds while organizing Telugu Mahasaba are also pending against him. The amount of Rs. 1 crore spend during Telugu Mahasaba have not been audited. If allegations are proved against him, legal action would be taken. State information commissioner has also recommended to the Govt. for suspending the grants to the director of culture. He also said that there is no transparency in the allotment of Ravindra Bharathi.
