Dinakaran probe: CJI sends names to Vice-Prez for panel

New Delhi, January 08: A three-member committee is likely to be constituted next week to examine the notice of impeachment motion against Karnataka High Court Chief Justice P D Dinakaran over land-grabbing allegations.

Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan has sent a panel of four names to Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari for the purpose, sources said.

The Committee comprising a Supreme Court judge, a High Court Chief Justice and an eminent jurist, is likely to be constituted after the return of Ansari, who is on a week-long tri-nation visit to Africa, they said.

Of the four names suggested by the CJI, two will be chosen by the Vice-President, who will also name an eminent jurist of his choice to the committee.

Ansari had earlier admitted the notice by a group of 75 members of the Rajya Sabha to start impeachment proceedings against Justice Dinakaran.
