Speaking to Newsmen Mr. Gogoi, CM of Assam said that medical report showed that no rape was committed by the accused, Fareeduddin Khan. The Nagaland government should come out with facts.
Brother of the accused, Jamal Khan said that the girl who filed rape complaint was his brother’s wife’s cousin. He also said that many of his relatives work in the Army and all of them are Indians and not Bangladeshis.
However the victim claims that rumour that she did this for money is false. She also said that she was given money by the accused to remain silent.
Jamal Khan alleged that his brother was arrested on the suspicion of raping a woman in Dimapur on 24th February. On the next day, he was remanded to judicial custody and sent to Dimapur Central Jail.
On 5 March, a large number of agitators barged into the jail, dragged him out, stripped him naked, beat him up, pelted him with stones and dragged him towards the centre of Dimapur town, seven kilometers away. On the way, he succumbed to his injuries after which the mob dragged the body to a clock tower and displayed it.
