Dilip Vengsarkar appointed as National Cricket Academy director

Bengaluru, Nov.25 : Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar has been appointed as the director of the National Cricket Academy by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in Bangalore.

Vengsarkar insisted that his primary focus would be to revitalise the ‘defunct’ NCA and put the academy back on the tracks.

“For the last four to five years, it is as good as defunct. And it had no direction. So I will have to focus on the restructuring and make sure that Indian cricket can get good cricketers and we can have a good bench strength,” Vengsarkar was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

Vengsarkar will succeed Brijesh Patel, who reportedly had to step down from his position after BCCI president Shashank Manohar introduced the conflict-of-interest guidelines. (ANI)
