AICC General Secretary and incharge of Telangana Congress affairs Digvijay Singh on Tuesday announced his support for the hunger strike undertaken by YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy seeking Special Status for Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to media persons in New Delhi, Digvijay Singh said despite having political differences with Jagan, he supports the demand for Special Status. However, he advised Jagan not to risk his life by undertaking protests like indefinite fast. He said all parties would fight unitedly to get Special Status for AP. He said that the Congress party would raise the issue in Parliament as it does not have any member in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
Criticising Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Digvijay Singh said that Naidu has been making promises which are impossible to fulfill. He also expressed concern over rising suicides by farmers in Telangana State. He said that the Congress leaders have launched Rythu Bharosa Yatra and have been making efforts to prevent suicides.
The AICC leader said that only one family of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has been ruling the Telangana State. The entire agriculture sector has been completely neglected. He accused KCR of cheating the masses by making false promises. He said not a single promise made in the TRS Manifesto has been fulfilled. KCR has been ruling in such an arrogant manner that he got all opposition members suspended when they demanded clearance of crop loan waiver dues at one go, he said. (INN)
