Digvijay Singh asks cadre to take GHMC polls as challenge

AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh has asked Congress workers to take the forthcoming GHMC elections as a challenge and win them.

Addressing the 94th birth anniversary celebrations of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao at Gandhi Bhavan here on Sunday, Digvijay Singh said that the next GHMC polls was a major challenge for the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee. He criticised the proposed delimitations of wards in the GHMC limits. He said that the conversion of 150 divisions into 200 divisions was aimed at benefitting the TRS. He asked the Congress leaders to take up the matter with the State Election Commission and pressurise the State Government for taking up the delimitation process in a transparent manner.

Digvijay Singh said that the TPCC would have to work hard to win the Khammam Municipal Corporation elections. He asked the leaders of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to work hard to strengthen the party in their respective States.

PV Narasimha Rao’s birth anniversary celebration was jointly organised by the TPCC and APCC at Gandhi Bhavan.

TPCC and APCC Presidents N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Dr. N Raghuveera Reddy respectively, Leaders of Opposition K Jana Reddy (Assembly) and Mohammed Ali Shabbir (Council), TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao and other leaders participated in the event. (INN)
