Digvijay Singh asks cadre to gear up for GHMC polls

AICC Secretary Digvijay Singh on Thursday asked the Congress workers to focus on winning the forthcoming GHMC elections.

According to sources, Digvijay Singh reviewed the party’s preparation for by-elections to Warangal Lok Sabha and Sanathnagar Assembly seat. He also discussed preparations for elections in three municipal corporations including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. Describing the GHMC polls as quite prestigious for the party, he directed the leaders and cadre to concentrate on winning these elections.

Later he addressed a press conference at Gandhi Bhava along with TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Leaders of Opposition K Jana Reddy (Assembly) and Mohammed Ali Shabbir (Council). He told media persons that Water Grid was a major scam in making as hundreds of crores were being spent on the scheme without even having a Detailed Project Report. He also claimed that the NTPC power project in Nalgonda was already approved by the previous UPA regime and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is trying to take false credit for the same.

Digvijay Singh alleged that the TRS Government has failed to fulfill the promises that it made to the people during elections. There is no progress on promises of giving 12% reservation to Muslims and Tribals. Similarly, the promise of 2BHK flats for poor has remained a non-reality. (INN)
