AICC General Secretary Digvijay has accused the Telugu Desam Party of double speak on the issue of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
“When the Antony Committee was formed, the same TDP gave a statement saying that it won’t give representation to a party-appointed committee. Now when we have a government committee has been appointed, the TDP has gone back on its words,” he told reporters here on Monday. “Now the TDP is also getting infected with the disease of double speak,” he alleged.
Digvijay Singh also dismissed the TDP’s allegation that it was being targeted by the Centre by convening all-party meeting. “Why anyone will be targeted. This is the most democratic form which the UPA Government has adopted,” he said.
The AICC General Secretary said that efforts must be made to reduce the widening gap between the people of Seemandhra and Telangana regions. He said that the difficulties being faced by the people in these two regions should be addressed immediately. “When people have elected the Congress party twice, then it is our responsibility to take care of their needs and problems,” he said.
When asked about Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao’s suggestion that Hyderabad should be the joint capital only for two years, Digvijay Singh said that the KCR had every right to express his opinion as the Group of Ministers (GoM) has sought everyone’s views on the issue. However, he advised KCR to be careful in what he is saying which could create unnecessary situations in Andhra Pradesh. (INN)
