Digvijay to appear before police in recruitment scam case

Bhopal: Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh is likely to appear before the city police tomorrow in connection with the probe of a recruitment scam at Madhya Pradesh Assembly secretariat.

The alleged scam took place between 1993 and 2003, when Digvijay Singh was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

Singh today arrived in Bhopal from a tour. He will go to the police station at 11 am tomorrow, a source close to him said.

Singh has been summoned to the office of Jahangirabad area City Superintendent of Police Saleem Khan.

In February this year, Jahangirabad police had registered a case against Singh, former Speaker Sriniwas Tiwari and others for alleged forgery, conspiracy, cheating, misuse of office as well as offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act following a complaint filed by the Assembly secretariat about irregularities in recruitment during 1993 to 2003.
