Digital Documents Now Valid. Here’s All You Need To Know About DigiLocker

New Delhi, Aug 11: The government on Thursday issued an advisory to all the states to accept the driving license, voter ID, PAN card and other documents in electronic form if submitted through DigiLocker or mParivahan platform. “This is in response to a number of grievances/RTI applications received in the Ministry where citizens have complained that the documents available in DigiLocker or the mParivahan app are not considered valid by the traffic police or the motor vehicles department,” said an official statement.

The advisory also clarified that the DigiLocker has two platforms to pull one’s documents in an electronic form. In the DigiLOcker, one can also save their copies in a digital format. Your account will be linked to your Aadhaar number. Here’s everything you need to know about the DigiLocker:

a. The cloud storage service, DigiLocker, is now being used by four million users. The MyGov application, which was launched in 2015, provides a platform for citizens to interact with the government.

b. With DigiLocker, you can share the digital copies of your documents at any time in a hassle-free and environment-friendly manner.

c. To open an account, all you need is your Aadhaar number. To activate it, it is mandatory to link your Aadhaar number with your DigiLocker.

d. DigiLocker account is password protected with OTP facilities. It also has a timed-logout system.
Here’s how to link your Aadhaar with DigiLocker account
• Login to DigiLocker with your credentials
• A dialog box with a message to get your eAadhaar will display on your screens. Click on the option to get it
• Soon after, you will get an OTP on your mobile number
• Enter the OTP and click on ‘Verify’
• Next, click on ‘Save’ on the ‘Issued Document’ page.
