AICC general secretary in charge of party affairs in Andhra Pradesh Digvijay Singh, on Thursday said no voting has taken place on the Telangana Bill.
Speaking to the media, the AICC leader reminded that it was pertinent to note that there was voting in the Assembly only on the resolution moved by Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and as such there was no voting on the T Bill. A crucial chapter in the process of Telangana formation had been completed after the Assembly had fulfilled a constitutional obligation by debating the Bill. However, the resolution of the CM and adoption of the same would not have any impact on the formation of Telangana State, he reiterated.
Digvijay Singh reiterated that the Union government would move forward on the Telangana process as per Article 3. Since the Assembly has fulfilled its obligation, now the Bill would be introduced in Parliament after the Union Cabinet debated it and gives clearance. The Union cabinet would keep in view the amendments suggested and if need be suitable and appropriate ones would be incorporated in the Bill, he explained.
The AICC leader further recalled that all those parties which were now opposing the Telangana Bill had in the past had extended support to the formation of a Telangana State. (NSS).
