AICC general secretary in-charge of Telangana state Congress party affairs Digvijay Singh has said that the Congress leaders have to work hard to come to power in the 2019 elections and GHMC elections were the starting point to them.
Addressing the Congress activists at Chintal Basti here on Tuesday, Digvijay Singh called upon the party activists to undertake door-to-door campaigning and use social media — Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp etc. He said TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao would not have become Chief Minister in his life if AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi had not conceded Telangana State.
Alleging that KCR, who touched the feet of Sonia Gandhi after the creation of Telangana State, Digvijay Singh said the former was only doing two things — agriculture and business. Finding fault with KCR for neglecting farmers’ suicides in the State, Digvijay demanded that KCR tell where from he got Rs 7.5 crore for Ayutha Chandi Yagam. Stating that the Congress was the only party that would protect the Telangana people from KCR and TRS, Digvijay Singh alleged that MIM, RSS, Shiv Sena and BJP were resorting to politics of provoking communal differences.
Making it clear that tickets will be given to winning candidates, TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy asked the local leaders to give the list of candidates for their consideration to select the candidates on or before January 13 evening. He said 12% reservation promised to Muslims by KCR, has to become a referendum in GHMC elections to the KCR government. “KCR is deceiving Muslims. He was not sincere towards Muslims. KCR not even appointed Wakf Board Chairman though the TRS government was formed 19 months ago”, he pointed out.
Targeting his guns towards MIM party, he asked the MIM leaders as to why they failed to question Viqaruddin encounter. He suggested voters not to waste their vote by casting it to TDP and said the TDP leaders were joining TRS after winning the election. Urging the settlers to cast their votes to Congress party, Uttam said he was ready for anything in case the TRS wins 100 divisions in the GHMC elections.
AICC leader Kuntia said the MIM always sails with a party which was in power. Questioning the MIM as to what it has done to the Muslims, Kuntia said MIM leaders did everything for their own benefit.
TPCC Working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka alleged that the TRS party, with the fear of GHMC elections, brought MLCs from Warangal, Nalgonda and Mahbubnagar as ex-officio members to win the Mayor post. He alleged that the MIM and BJP were communal parties and they will rake up communal riots and asked the voters not to cast their vote to those two parties. (NSS)
