A large number of differently abled people under the aegis of Andhra Pradesh forum for rights of the disabled staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate here today in support of their long pending demands.
They also displayed placards and raised slogans in support of their demands. They alleged that dalits among them were being discriminated against by the Assistant Director of the department for the disabled welfare and demanded action against him.
They raised slogans demanding among other things, enhancement of pension to Rs.2,000, in commensurate with the rise in prices, allotment of house sites and housing in Rajiv Gruha kalpa complexes besides providing of seven percent reservations to them in the ensuing elections to local bodies. UNI
