We didn’t agree with decision taken in BAC meeting: Jana Reddy

Disputing that his party accepted the decision government proposal at the BAC meeting, CLP leader K Jana Reddy said they didn’t accept the proposal that adjournment motions will be taken up after Question Hour. He also disputed Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao’s argument that a unanimous decision was taken in the BAC meeting that adjournment motions to be taken up only after Question Hour. He warned that they would follow the footsteps of former chief minister late Jayalalitha and former chief minister Mayavathi if the government fails to mend its ways.

Speaking at the Assembly Media Point after staging walk-out from the Assembly in protest against the government’s attitude in running the House on Tuesday in Legislative Assembly along with party MLAs DK Aruna, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, T Rammohan Reddy, Padmavathi Reddy, SA Sampath Kumar and others, Jana Reddy asked whether speaking for hours in the House was great? He said the attitude of the ruling party was not good and it was not working to the aspirations of the people.

He alleged that the Speaker was giving priority to ruling party members and was not even looking at the Opposition benches. There was no response from the Speaker even though they took the issue to the Speaker, he lamented. He also alleged that the Speaker was cutting the mike even before listening the Opposition members. He said the House was being run in an undemocratic manner and hence they were boycotting the House for the entire day. What is the meaning in conducting the House if the Speaker doesn’t give opportunity to speak on behalf of people?

Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka alleged that the Speaker was not giving mike even though the CLP leader stood several times. He also alleged that the ruling party members do not know about Business in the Assembly. The House was not a public place and Secretariat to give lectures for hours and to clap for their speech. Conducting BAC meeting without the presence of main Opposition party was nothing but killing democracy, he stated.

On Tuesday, the Congress party gave a notice to the Speaker for an adjournment motion on “negligent” attitude of TSPSC in recruitment examinations. The Speaker rejected the notice. The Congress party demanded that the Speaker take up the issue immediately before the Question Hour. But the Speaker declined. The Congress members staged a walk out.

BJP Floor leader G Kishan Reddy said it was not correct to reject all adjournment motions. Finding fault with the Congress leaders’ attitude, MIM Floor leader Akbaruddin said the Congress members were misleading CLP leader K Jana Reddy.. There was a tradition to take up adjournment motions, but the Congress members were staying in the House even after the CLP leader walked out. He said all the members of the House have to abide by the decisions taken in the BAC meeting. (NSS)
