Abu Dhabi, February 09: An education institution aimed at understanding diabetes, associated risks, prevention and treatment was launched on Tuesday in the Capital by the Centre of Excellence for Applied Research and Training (CERT), the commercial arm of the Higher Colleges of Technology.
“The CERT Diabetes Academy (CDA) is an interactive system providing excellence and state-of-the-art education prevention and medical competence to the multi-national community of Abu Dhabi and in supporting governments and health systems of the UAE in the long-term challenge,” said Hans-Peter Feix, CEO of CDA.
“It will focus on identifying risk factors and those at risk, understanding the disease, revising current treatment and strategising ways to new treatment for diabetes. It will also look at all aspects of fighting the disease, promote healthy living and encourage people to care for their own health,” noted Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research at CDA’s inaugural Diabetes Symposium where the academy was officially launched.
