Mumbai: Bollywood Actress, Dia Mirza posted a controversial statement on her tweet advocating dry Holi this year which has created outrage from a lot of users on Twitter.
She tweeted, “The irony of the times we live in: farmers commit suicide due to drought and people waste water to ‘play’ #Holi.Go ahead call me anti-Hindu.”

After getting strong criticism, Ms. Dia Mirza released a statement on her official Facebook page defending her tweet.
She defended her statement on her facebook declaring that as an Indian citizen, she has an equal respect for all the religions, festivals and customs. She further wrote that it has never been her intention to hurt the sentiments of any person or community. If it has hurt anybody’s feelings, she said that she apologizes unequivocally but she also wrote that the fact remains that various parts of the country are experiencing a severe water shortage.
She further mentioned “Let’s remain receptive to one another even when we choose to disagree. Have a colorful, safe and happy Holi!!!”
