Dhumal blames Cong for poor financial condition of HP

Shimla, March 19: Refuting the allegation of Congress that the state government was pushing Himachal Pradesh into a debt trap by rampant borrowings, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said the scenario was much bad during the former’s rule.

“My government is blamed for proposed expenditure of only Rs 27 out of Rs 100 in the next financial year budget on developmental work. But, the fact is that this was much lower during the previous Congress rule,” he said during a debate on annual budget for 2010-11 presented by him in the Assembly on March 12.

“Only Rs 18 out of Rs 100 was marked for development in 2004-05 and Rs 22 in 2005-06 when Congress was in power in HP,” Dhumal said rolling out comparative figures.

The chief minister who also holds finance portfolio said borrowing was much higher during Congress rule.
