The 10-member committee set up by the Congress to suggest ways and means to strengthen the party after the recent debacle in Andhra Pradesh Assembly byelections today submitted its report to Party State President Botsa Sathyanarayana and CFhief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. The Committee, headed by by Andhra Pradesh Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao, was formed after the debacle of the Congress Party in the by-elections held on June 12 and asked to make recommendations to strengthen the party at the grass roots and facilitate visible governance for getting back the confidence of the people. The Committee, in its report, highlighted the party’s present position and suggested future action plan and measures to be taken for strengthening the party. Congress sources said the report also recommended to fill up the nominated posts and party posts and conducting local body elections and taking government welfare programmes and schemes before the doorsteps of genuine beneficiaries, the sources said.
The Committee during its series of meetings during the last one month had focussed more on the welfare of the disadvantaged sections.
