Minister for Roads and Buildings Dharmana Prasada Rao on Thursday appeared before the CBI Special Court at Nampally in connection with the disproportionate assets case (DAC) of Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.
Prasada Rao was named as the fifth accused in the charge-sheet filed by the CBI in the Vanpic issue. This is the second time he was appearing in the court in this case. Though he was to appear before the case earlier, but could not do so in view of the demise of his mother. His petition in this regard was allowed by the court.
The other accused named in the charge-sheet likeY S Jaganmohan Reddy, Nimmagadda Prasad and Brahmananda Reddy, who are lodged in Chanchanguda Jail, are expected to be examined through video conference.
It may be recalled here that last month Prasada Rao attended the court and shook hands with Jaganmohan Reddy, who was also brought to the court. The Kadapa MP was granted permission by the court to meet his family members for half-an-hour in the court then.
Senior IAS officer and former Home Secretary B.P. Acharya, Vijayaraghavan and Shravan Gupta also appeared in the CBI Court in connection with the EMAAR properties case. (NSS).
