New Delhi: CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury has condemned the deadly attack in Dhaka and said that the entire episode was a scheme to destabilize Bangladesh internally.
Speaking to ANI here, Yechury strongly condemned the attacks and also requested the Bangladesh Government to ensure that such incidents do not take place.
He further added that this is a scheme to destabilize Bangladesh internally.
“The message that has been send to us is against the growing relations between the two countries. The closer India becomes to USA and becomes a junior strategic partner of the USA, we have to anticipate such threats will increase”, he added.
He laid emphasis to the growing concern of internal stability on Bangladesh and said, “It is not only to send signals to India but also for the internal peace security and stability for Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla said on Saturday, that the horrific episode represented a higher level of action by the terrorists.
Speaking to ANI here, Shringla said that he paid a visit to military hospital and offered his condolences to the parents of Tarishi Jain, the Indian girl who was a victim of the terrorist attacks.
Earlier today, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj confirmed that an Indian national had been killed in Dhaka and expressed her condolences to the family of the victim.
Bereaved family members of Tarishi, mourned her death after she was killed, as she was taken hostage by the gunmen in an upscale cafe Holey Artisan in Dhaka’s diplomatic zone.
Twenty people including Tarishi were killed with sharp weapons by the gunmen after taking the diners hostage.
Apart from Tarishi, other deceased include eight Italians, some Japanese, South Koreans and some Bangladeshi nationals.
The 12-hour-long hostage crisis at the cafe popular with foreigners ended after a two hour long assault by armed forces’ commandos killing six gunmen this morning.
One assailant has been held by the security forces.
Following the hostage crises Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reiterated her vow to stop militancy and terrorism in the country and reassured the citizens that her government will do everything to curb militancy and violent extremism in the country. (ANI)
