Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy on Tuesday stated that the State Police have taken fool-proof measures to conduct the by-elections in a free and fair manner.
Talking to media persons after conducting a review meeting with top police officials of East and West Godavari, Krishna and Guntur districts over the polling arrangements, Dinesh Reddy said that the police have made elaborate arrangements to maintain law and order situation in the election-bound districts. He said that one SP rank official has been appointed for each Assembly constituency to oversee the polling arrangement. Special teams have been formed to prevent distribution of liquor and money to influence the voters. He said that the police have seized Rs 2.83 crore in Guntur, Rs 1.5 crore in east Godavari and Rs 3 crore in west Godavari so far.
Dinesh Reddy also condemned media rumours that YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy’s possible arrest by CBI on May 28 would create law and problem in the State. He said that the police was fully geared up to meet any kind of situation on May 28.
