Hyderabad, August 23: Director General of Police SSP Yadav today created a flutter by entering the Assembly lobbies in uniform and wearing his cap.
This afternoon, the DGP arrived in the Assembly premises and wanted to meet Finance Minister K Rosaiah. He took prior appointment with the minister.
Yadav, wearing his uniform and cap, walked in but the Assembly security personnel reminded Additional DGP and in charge of OCTOPUS Umesh Kumar, accompanying Yadav, that police officers wearing caps are not allowed inside the lobbies.
Though Umesh Kumar informed the DGP, the latter ignored the suggestion and went inside.
While leaving the Assembly premises after meeting Rosaiah, the DGP asked the Assembly security personnel to show him the rule book which prevented an officer from entering the lobbies in uniform with cap.
When contacted, Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy told Express that he was away in Delhi and he was not aware of the incident.
Assembly secretary S Raja Sadaram said that any officer intending to enter the lobbies in uniform has to take the permission of the Speaker. “I am not aware if the DGP had taken permission from the Speaker. He may have taken it,’’ he said.
Asked if there is any rule which prevents an officer in uniform from entering the lobbies, he said: “All rules need not be in black and white. Sometimes we go by practices and conventions,’’ he said.
