DGP constitutes SIT to probe gangster Nayeem’s encounter

Director General of Police Anurag Sharma on Wednesday constituted a Special Investigation (SIT) to probe into the death of gangster Md. Nayeemuddin in an exchange of fire with the police on 8th August.

The nine-member SIT will be headed by Inspector General of Police Nagi Reddy. The other members of SIT are Addl DCP Crimes (Cyberabad) B. Srinivasa Reddy; Inspectors Sridhar (Begum Bazar); S. Sudhakar (Tr.PS, Uppal); Shakir Hussain (Wanaparthy Circle); Rajashekar Raju (Korutla Circle, Karimnagar); Samala Venkatesh (CCS, Sangareddy); P. Madhusudhan Reddy (Kodad Circle) and Seetharam (Armoor Circle).

The SIT will investigate into the various criminal activities conducted by late Nayeemuddin and his associates in Telangana State. The SIT will also investigate from where the seized material has originated especially land documents, Arms & Ammunition, Explosives etc., and other related issues.

The DGP in his orders said that all the above officers shall report to IGP Nagireddy today itself to enable SIT to function with immediate effect. (INN)
