Devotees in huge number had holy bath in the river Godavari since Friday early morning on the occasion of Karthika Masam first day. The devotees offered prayers to Gouridevi and had rounds around Thulasi sapling. Chanting ammavari name they released Karthika deepalu in the river Godavari. They also performed special prayers on the occasion.
In Andhra Pradesh, the devotees had holy bath on the occasion of first day of Karthika Masam on Friday morning in Rajamahendravaram in East Godavari district since early morning. The devotees thronged in huge numbers to have holy bath at Kotilingala Ghat, Pushkara Ghat, Markandeya Ghat, Saraswathi Ghat. They performed special prayers after having holy bath in the river. On the other hand, Ayyappa devotees had holy bath at Shivalingam in Pushkara Ghat. (NSS)
